The Beauties You Might Have Missed

Chinese Bookie Unknown Bar Girl

Bitter yet beautiful girl in bar in Killing of a Chinese Bookie

Actress: Unknown Project: KILLING OF A CHINESE BOOKIE Year: 1978 Director’s Cut Genre: Neo Noir Drama Character: Sullen Beautiful Girl in Bar Traits: Cosmo Vitelli, played by Ben Gazarra, just got squared away on his gambling debt and is about to acquire more: he owns a strip joint and right before picking up his own girls in a limo, dropped off by a cab, he meets his match in a gorgeous young girl at a bar where he stopped for a drink. NAG RATING: 10… Her looks kill Cosmo, although he muddles through, telling her “I’ve got a golden life… I’ve got the world by the balls.” “You think so?” she says coldly. “That’s right,” he replies, almost too himself, slumped in his chair. “I’m great.” Obviously, for that moment, only he believes it. BEST PART: In a movie full of beauties, most of them nude, this girl, fully clothed and bathed in darkness and bad lighting, is by far the cutest, and extremely impossible: which is the point of the scene: showing what he can’t get before we see all he has: that he winds up pissing away. YOU MISSED: You can only see this unnamed, mysterious beauty in the 1978 Director’s Cut by director John Cassavetes that flows much better than the original rambling, jigsaw puzzle albeit enlightened, brilliant mess. And if anyone knows this beauty’s name, email at and let us know.
